The University of Washington School of Dentistry, Department of Oral Medicine, offers a program leading to a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The program length is two years. Residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology will be based in the Department of Oral Medicine, School of Dentistry, but will spend part of their time in the University of Washington Medical Center including Division of Neuroradiology, Department of Radiology.

The certificate program prepares students for academic or private practice careers in oral and maxillofacial radiology. Residents will receive training in interpretation of standard and advanced imaging modalities. With a strong emphasis in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial radiology, including radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation protection, technique, as well as interpretation, the program is designed to prepare students for board certification eligibility as set forth by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Study tracks leading to MSD and PhD are available in UW system.

An applicant must have successfully completed an accredited program leading to the DDS or DMD degree, or foreign equivalent, and comply with the requirements for admission to the Graduate School of the University of Washington. To be considered for admission, an applicant must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 (B or better). Students from countries where English is not the principal language will present evidence of satisfactory performance on the proficiency Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL score must be at least 237 to qualify for the program. The Department requires transcripts, a Dean’s Letter, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and official documentation of any reported exams scores (e.g. dental boards) and qualify for GME funding.

Final decisions on acceptance of any applicant meeting the requirements for admission will rest with the departmental faculty. A personal interview may be required. The deadline for applications for enrollment is November 1st of the prior year.
