AAOMR Annual Meeting Poster Awards

Purpose

These awards are intended to support graduate students in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Two awards are offered each year. One award is given to a student for the best Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology research poster and another award is given to a student for the best poster on a clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology topic.

Award

The recipient of each award will receive:

  • Monetary prize of $500
  • Certificate

The Awardees will be announced and recognized at the Annual Session of the AAOMR.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology graduate program at the time of the poster abstract submission.
  • Member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the time of Abstract Submission and at the time of receiving the award.
  • Indication on the Abstract Submission Form that the applicant is interested in participating in the competition.
  • Abstract Acceptance

Application

Selection Criteria

Competing applicants are required to deliver a five-minute presentation of their poster in front of two judges selected by the Awards Committee. whenever possible during this phase, the Awards Committee will pair judges from different institutions in a way to not have both judges graduated from the same program as the contestant. Certainly, a program director of a faculty from the applicant's current program will not be assigned for judging. Following the presentation, a five -minute question-and -answer session will be held. Each judging pair will rank their pool of posters and choose a finalist. Each finalist will then present to all judges for five minutes. the winners in each category (clinical and research) will be determined by majority vote among the judges. The recipients of the Research and Clinical Poster Awards will be selected and announced during the AAOMR Annual Session.

For Clinical awards following criteria are considered

  • Significance and originality of the clinical topic
  • Documentation of pertinent information
  • Quality of the poster and clarity of the presentation

For Research awards following criteria are considered

  • Significance and originality of the research topic
  • Research design
  • Data presentation and analysis
  • Quality of the poster and clarity of the presentation
